Music, Dance and Art

Music lessons

Music for Everyone (MFE) is a cooperative program with the cities of Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, Maple Grove, New Hope and Plymouth.

We offer private and group lessons to students of all ages. Call Alyssa Krumholz to arrange your private lesson time prior to registration: 763-509-5224.

Music lessons offered

In Brooklyn Park, we offer the following lessons:

  • Private piano 
  • Private woodwinds

Additional lessons in guitar and voice are available in member cities. Please register in the city where the lessons will take place.

Registration information

  • Register for lessons in the city in which lessons take place. State your lesson time upon registration.
  • Lessons in Brooklyn Park are held in the CAC Music Room.
  • Must be at least 7 years old to register for private lessons.
  • All students must bring their receipt to their first private lesson.
  • No make-ups will be offered.
  • Scholarships are not available for music lessons.

Music instructors

Music for Everyone instructors have varying musical backgrounds. They are trained in performance of a particular instrument, as school music teachers, or in musical theater. All of the instructors in Music for Everyone are passionate about music and strive to nurture that same love of music in their students.

Piano

Beginner to advanced, ages 7 and up

Lessons include basic and advanced keyboard technique, sight reading, basic music theory, and ensemble playing.

Woodwind/Brass

Beginner to advanced, ages 7 and up

Develop tone, rhythm and music reading skills while enjoying a variety of musical styles.

Dance classes

The Brooklyn Park Dance program’s philosophy is to teach the fundamentals of dance by making dance fun for all abilities. Self-esteem is more important than perfection. Being able to enjoy the “art of dance” and feel comfortable performing are the major objectives.

Introduction to tap and ballet

This 6-lesson introductory class will focus on having fun while learning coordination, ballet positions and beginning dance steps. No prior dance experience is necessary. Open classes for parent viewing are the first and last lessons only.

Dance attire

Comfortable workout clothes and dance shoes should be worn for all lessons--tap shoes for tap class and ballet slipper or socks for ballet.

Art classes

Kidcreate Studio’s award-winning art classes allow kids to explore art in an environment full of giggles and grins. Kids create fridge worthy masterpieces while learning art concepts and experimenting with different art materials. Curriculum is age appropriate and designed to inspire. Classes provide a fun, self-esteem building atmosphere full of “I did it” moments. Making a mess is the best with Kidcreate Studio!

Big and Messy Art with Kidcreate Studio

Ages 18 months to 6 years.

Let your little artist explore the messier side of art in a big way! Your child will enjoy many sensory experiences as they create enormous works of art. They will paint, sculpt, scribble and giggle their way to discovering a grander scale of art. These projects are way too big or way too messy to tackle at home!

Come and create right along with your child in these hands-on class! This is a great class for siblings to take together.

Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Sibling camps

LEGO Loco with Kidcreate Studio

Ages 4 to 9 years.

Want to be inspired and challenged to create new and exciting LEGO art? Then this is the class for you! You will get to use your awesome LEGO building skills to master a LEGO challenge and then you will create a larger than life clay sculpture of a LEGO brick.

End of Summer Bash with Kidcreate Studio

Ages 4 to 9 years.

Summer is coming to an end. Don't let it slip by without create some "sweet" art! Join us as we create art out of candy. You guessed it, our art materials will be frosting, gumdrops, marshmallows and other candy treats. Come create a summertime beach scene with these sweet supplies.

School age camps

The Messiest Art Camp Ever, part 2

Ages 5 to 12 years.

Back by popular demand with all new projects that take mess-making to a whole new level. Paint with plaster, sculpt with gooey gunk, make paper mache birds and fling paint like Jackson Pollock, plus learn some art terms along the way. These are not project to tackle at home; leave the mess with us. Being a kid is messy business! There is no need for you child to have completed The Messiest Art Class Ever, part 1 to attend this class.

Art Academy with Kidcreate Studio

Ages 5 to 12 years.

Does your child love art? Painting, drawing, clay-- it's all awesome! We will experiment with many techniques, materials and styles as we make snow globes, paint on canvas, create clay characters and more. Come ready to have an artsy good time in this highly anticipated camp!

School age classes

Spectacular Splatter Painting

Ages 5 to 12 years.

Battle summer slip with this educational art class! We will learn about and be inspired by Jackson Pollock and his super-duper messy painting technique called splatter painting.

LEGO Star Wars Art Camp

Ages 5 to 12 years.

Back by popular demand! LEGO bricks and Star Wars--what an amazing combination! We'll work as a team to paint a huge mural complete with stars, planets and far, far away galaxies. We'll build starfighters out of LEGO bricks, stage an intergalactic battle and make a Darth Vader bobble head. We'll even make our own lightsabers. We'll work with LEGO bricks, paint, clay and other art supplies to create these masterpieces that your young Jedi will love!
