The Brooklyn Park Ambassadors are goodwill ambassadors that represent Brooklyn Park at community events and spread the word that Brooklyn Park is a thriving community inspiring pride where opportunities exist for all. This is a year-round program but the majority of the appearances happen May to August.

Activities we do

  • Volunteer at community events in the city like Tater Daze and Movie in the Park
  • Serve at community outreach events like schools, Salvation Army bell ringing or Feed My Staving Children
  • Raise funds for the program (self-sustaining)
  • Speak at council meetings
  • Attends other festival parades and coronations throughout Minnesota and part of Wisconsin

Skilled developed and learning experiences

As an ambassador, you gain many new skills, such as:

  • Pride for your city
  • Respect
  • Public speaking
  • Public relation techniques
  • Leadership skills
  • Self-confidence
  • Patience
  • Positively interact with people of various backgrounds
  • How to work as part of a team

Who can join?

  • People between the ages of 17 and 21
  • People who live, work to attend high school in Brooklyn Park
  • Have not held an ambassador title for the City of Brooklyn Park or another city in the past two years
  • You must be able to serve for the entire year

Friday, April 14, 2017 Application deadline
Thursday, April 20, 7 to 8 p.m. Candidate orientation at Brooklyn Park Library, Shingle Creek Room. We'll give out the candidate events calendar at this meeting.
Thursday, June 15, 5 to 8 p.m. Tater Daze parade
Monday, June 19 (tentative) Coronation


Applying for the ambassador program

You will need to submit a headshot (no larger than a 5x7) and $25 registration fee with the application.
